  • *one evening:“一天上午/下午/晚间”,不用介词,只说 one morning/one afternoon/one evening/one night,但“一天中午”要说 one day at noon或 at noon one day。 I'm retired./The window is broken./The drawer is locked up./The children are tired out. * A book of photos… still feels right. 又如: It feels heavy/light/smooth/rough/soft/hard/hot/cold/wrong/strange/different/the same. The thing looks(sounds/smells/tastes)awful(nice/all right/terrible). 在这种用法中,动词 feel/sound/smell/look/taste是半连系动词,后面跟的是形容词,不能用副词。 *表示“好”,除good/fine/nice/wonderful/splendid以外,美国人常喜用较夸大的形容词,如:terrific/fantastic/fabulous/sensational/marvelous/amazing/tremendous/brilliant等。 如果他说:“It's not bad.” *They get better and better. It's getting cold. The boy's got taller since I saw him last. The sound became louder and louder. He drank more and more heavily. The ball bounced higher and higher. The story of the TV series grew less and less interesting. *When do you think we'll be through? 如: The meeting is over.(完了) I'm through with that girl.(吹了,不再要好了) Prices are up again.(上涨) The pitcher is out.(出局) I'll be around.(在旁边) He is up and about.(康复了) He's from down under.(澳洲人) I'm all in.(累坏了) This is beyond me.(非我所能懂) That was beneath her.(她不肯干这种有失自尊的事的) Nobody's in.(都不在家),等等。
