- * 关于天气的说法已有不少，大致归纳如下： 气温：hot酷热；warm暖热；mild温和适中；cool凉爽；cold冷；freezing 冻冷。 晴雨：fine晴朗；sunny阳光好；cloudy有云；overcast阴；drizzle（下）毛毛雨；rainy有雨；windy有风；snow雪，下雪。 * 烧烤食品的各种熟度： rare偏生；medium rare稍生；medium 中等熟度；well-done透熟；完全生的鱼肉类是 raw；而糊了叫burned（burnt）。 * 各种制菜肴的方法： stir-fried， fried炒；deep-fried炸；roast烧；roast， barbecued 烧烤，叉烧；stewed炖，焖，煮；steamed蒸；smoked 薰；stuffed填，酿；scalded氽。 * have got =have，have got to…=have to，had got=got。 * beeper是传呼机，英国人称为bleeper。 * What a day！是惊叹语，可以表示很好，也可以表示很不好。如： What eyes！多大（多好看）的眼睛！ What luck！多走运（多倒霉）！可以把形容词说出，如： What beautiful（terrible）weather！多好（坏）的天气！ * 有until的句子，可以试情况选两种译法中的一种。如： I never saw him until now．我在现在以前没有见过他。 Don't start writing until you hear the beep．听到哗的一声以后再开始写。 * 口语中常用sure代替surely，如： We sure do. This sure is a wonderful place. * 老爷爷回家后，在大家庭中不只是消极地适应，而是积极参与生活，使“工作狂”（workaholic）的儿子明白需要当好孙子的伙伴，但这种参与是以春风化雨的形式做到的。我们期待着他将更多地给这个家带来理解和欢乐。
